Monsanto (US), DuPont (US), Syngenta (Switzerland), Groupe Limagrain (France), Land O' Lakes (US), KWS AG (Germany), Bayer Crop Science (Germany), Sakata (Japan), DLF-Trifolium (Denmark), Takii (Japan)…. Corporations that have something in common: They have as a goal, to build a dystopian world with the Super Warrior based upon the worst of Science Fiction (sadly SciFi too often comes before science): The Berserker. That isn’t really why I chose these companies for my sample for this episode. I chose them because they are so visible. They represent so many other Corporations we would like to be rid of.
However, it isn’t that corporations should be destroyed or demolished, except for maybe the ones named above. It’s that they should be altered, modified, and their power over the economy and people of the Earth, reduced to that of smaller businesses. Corporations are not supposed to be part of any government, nor are they supposed to be considered People. Such power does not belong on this planet. It is aberrent. Abhorrent, even.
Case law has determined that a corporation that does not do everything in its power, to include unethical and immoral things, to make money for its investors, is against the law. Investors can sue if a corporation does not act to make the most money possible for its investors. It’s the law.
It is not an acceptable excuse for what corporations do. How to modify the power given to these monsters? How to modify their nature? There are lots of ways I don’t wish to mention. But there is a way for people who are willing and able.
Boycotting the products a corporation produces is not especially effective. The nature of corporations has altered since the days boycotting was useful. Not to say you should stop. Please continue to boycott Nestlé.
There are two more involved, but very effective ways to change the nature of the funds available to these corporations.
1. While Banks have always invested in businesses and corporate businesses, in markets, stocks & bonds, they have recently become overly invested in the corporate entities we consider the “bad guys.” The big banks who claim to be too big to fail, but that actually are too big to carry on.
Withdrawing money from accounts in these certain banks means reducing the money banks invest in corporations.
Re read that.
Putting one’s money into Banks and Credit Unions that invest in corporations and the markets of businesses that build cleaner energy, cleaner businesses owned by employees, businesses with more prosperous policies rather than those with greedy & desperate tendencies, is the way to change the flavor of the Power in this country, as well as globally.
2. Divest your money from petroleum based accounts in the market, and put that money into stocks, bonds, mutual funds that support alternative energy. You are more likely to make more profit from alternative energy than from petroleum.
It takes homework & diligence, requirements for supporting freedom that is accompanied by prosperity rather than greed for riches.
Do it for yourself. Do it for your kids. Do it for the planet and the future.
Take a few minutes, well spent minutes, to learn how our dollars work. How money works globally. The video at this link is originally made to promote a book by Mike Maloney. Ignore the book, and the ad for silver and gold at the end. Pay attention to what’s between. It’s educational. You'll be glad you did.
